Why Marco Loves It

‘When family traditions, the power of terroir, and modern vision meet’.

The ‘Etél’ is named after the daughter of Nicolo, the owner of the Lorano winery. It is a contemporary rosé made from the Sangiovese grape from the southwest hills of the prestigious subregion of Castellina in Chianti Classico DOCG.

The grapes are individually picked by hand during two different harvests, one in mid-September and another in mid-October. The carefully destemmed grapes are then vinified in modern stainless steel tanks. This is done with a maceration of 4-6 hours on the skins at a temperature of about 5°C. The resulting must is then transferred to other stainless steel tanks to start fermentation at a controlled temperature of 18°C.

This wine embodies a concept I call ‘simplexity’ in that the wine looks simple but is not. It is highly approachable with an unexpected and pleasantly surprising depth.

Tasting & Pairing

Tasting notes:

The wine can adjust to different foods and moods just by playing around with the service temperature. For example, serve it at 8°C to enhance freshness and minerality. This will make each sip succulent, agile and vibrant, pairing perfectly with young cheeses, seafood dishes such as shrimp risotto, spaghetti with mussels and vegetarian ravioli. Or, serve it around 11°C to enhance its structure and roundness, making it a perfect pairing with lobster, seared tuna, roasted lamb, curries, paella, seafood and soups. The Etél’s primary aromas are characterised by citrus notes of grapefruit, accompanied by floral hints such as rose.
