Why Barbora Loves It

Located in the charming village of Echevronne, Domaine Lucien Jacob began as a producer of cassis and raspberries before transitioning into viticulture. Today, the estate is managed by Jean-Michel Jacob, his wife Christine, and sister Chantal, who have been at the helm since the early 1990s. The domaine now spans nearly 15 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Pinot Noir, with a single hectare dedicated to Chardonnay.

Under Jean-Michel's leadership, the winemaking process has evolved to emphasise elegance, particularly in their Pinot Noir. The focus on fruit is paramount, with careful use of new oak to ensure that the vibrant fruity and floral characteristics shine through.

The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune is fruit-forward and expressive from an early age, yet holds the promise of remarkable aging potential. At Domaine Lucien Jacob, respect for terroir is key, and this wine embodies purity and finesse without sacrificing depth. Despite the rising costs of Burgundy wines, Domaine Lucien Jacob offers exceptional value, particularly from the village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, which remains a hidden gem compared to its more renowned neighbours.

Tasting notes:

A bright and energetic wine, you'll find cherry and strawberry on the nose as well as on the palate. This accompanied by an earthy, fresh, mineral acidity. Poultry, pork, and game meats will all find a home alongside this beauty, as will roasted beets and goat cheese.
