Why We Love It

Château Gombaude-Guillot is a small, family-run estate located on the famed Pomerol plateau, neighbouring estates like Vieux Château Certan and Trotanoy. Farmed organically since 1992 and certified biodynamic since 2006, the estate focuses on producing expressive, terroir-driven Merlot blends that age gracefully.

The 2003 vintage — marked by a warm growing season across Bordeaux — has settled into its maturity with grace. Expect velvety plum and dried cherry notes, layered with tobacco, graphite, and earthy undertones. The structure is supple and refined, with gentle tannins and a long, savoury finish.

This is a beautifully evolved Pomerol from one of the region’s most principled and quietly respected producers — a rare opportunity to experience both place and philosophy in a single bottle.

Important Notes on Cabinet Wine

Many of the wines we sell in the Cabinet are from old vintages. Ageing can have truly wonderful effects on wine. Those effects are influenced by a range of factors, both within and outside the bottle, meaning two bottles from the same vintage may have different profiles. If you are new to older wines — and if so, welcome! — please keep in mind that you may encounter a range of flavours and aromas not found in younger wines.
