Introducing the latest release of a Raravina favourite!

Why Barbora Loves It

Since 1863, the Brovia family has been producing exceptional wines, using grapes exclusively from their vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. The estate is managed by Cristina Brovia, who meticulously tends the vineyards using organic methods, ensuring the health and vitality of the vines. The fruit is then passed to her sister Elena in the cellar, where Elena’s husband, Alex Sanchez supports the vinification.

While employing modern and functional techniques, the Brovia family remains deeply rooted in tradition and their connection to the land. Alex notes that Dolcetto is one of the most challenging local grape varieties to grow and vinify due to its tendency to lack acidity and become unbalanced. Despite this, Brovia’s Dolcetto stands out for its balance and vibrancy.

By picking the grapes early, they preserve a generous acidity that beautifully contrasts the pure black fruit flavours. Additionally, their Dolcetto is aged longer before release, allowing it to settle and achieve greater harmony. The result is a Dolcetto that defies expectations, offering both freshness and depth—a true reflection of the Brovia family's commitment to quality.

Tasting & Pairing

Tasting notes:

The Dolcetto Vignavillej di Brovia displays a vibrant ruby red hue with striking purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is as complex as it is intense, a testament to the depth only old vines can impart. On the nose and palate, you’ll discover layers of rich red fruits, complemented by rose and other floral notes. Look for pepper, almond, and mineral notes on the fresh palate. Pair it with rich lamb or duck dishes, red meat, or put it alongside an aged pecorino.
