Château L’Enclos des Roses sits in the rolling hills of AOC Gaillac in Southwest France, one of the country’s oldest wine regions. Founded by winemaker Aurélie Balaran in 2007, the estate is devoted to reviving native grape varieties rather than relying on international styles. Some of her vines are over 50 years old, rooted in limestone and clay soils that bring structure and depth. The result is a range of honest, characterful wines that tell the story of Gaillac’s land and heritage.
This 2019 vintage is a beautiful expression of regional identity. The blend of Duras, Braucol and Prunelard balances ripe fruit with fine tannins and a gentle spice that reflects the warm southern climate. It’s rich yet approachable, perfect for anyone looking to explore something off the beaten path while still feeling familiar in the glass.
Gaillac lies in the Tarn department of Occitanie, northeast of Toulouse. Its winemaking history stretches back to Roman times, and its native grapes form the genetic roots of Malbec. The vineyards enjoy a rare mix of Atlantic freshness and Mediterranean warmth, giving wines both brightness and depth.

Tasting & Pairing
Tasting notes:
Deep ruby in colour with aromas of black cherry, wild berries and laurel leaf, the palate is rounded and generous, showing ripe fruit, smooth tannins and a long, savoury finish with hints of pepper and herbs. Pair it with slow-cooked dishes and rustic flavours: lamb shoulder with rosemary, duck confit, wild mushroom ragù or aged farmhouse cheese.
